The shows page is at http://www.cmt.ca/Puppy/ and their facebook page is at http://www.facebook.com/CMTPickAPuppy where you can share your rescue stories and thougths on tonight’s rescue episode.

Be sure to mention CDR!  We want to get the word out so we can help our friends in foster care right now find their forever home.

The more people that are aware of rescues and the work we do, the more dachshunds in need that we can help!

I’m going to be watching and posting tonight…will you?  Give me a shout and let me know!

Light a Candle

January 19, 2011 at 11:55 pm • Posted in Guest Speaker Beeker2 Comments

I tell you this with great sadness…our new friend Rygel has gone to the Bridge.  Please join me in lighting a candle for Rygel and thanking his foster Mom for loving him and trying to make him comfortable in his last days.

We appreciate your donations and well wishes for Rygel and know that he appreciated them too.

Peace to you Rygel.

Friend in need

January 16, 2011 at 7:51 pm • Posted in Guest Speaker Beeker5 Comments

One of my new friends in the rescue is really sick right now.

Rygel is a 9 year old tan mini wire-hair who is blind.  He’s been having trouble with his bowels.   He’s got bloody runs and the vet is having a hard time finding out what is causing this.  He’s been through 3 rounds of antibiotics and steriods, with each round getting stronger.  He’s also on prescription food as the vet thought that he might have trouble with proteins.

So far he’s only had a marginal improvement and will need more vet visits which means more money.  We want to get Rygel better so he can go to his forever home, but we could use your help with the vet bills.  Any donations would be greatly appreciated by Rygel and CDR.

Keep your fingers crossed and send the well wishes to Rygel.

Un-retired Retiree Returns

Me with my sister Meggie

Hello blog-land!

Guest Speaker Beeker here!

The retired life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be so I decided to return.

I must say it sounds like it’s been an exciting year since I was last here.  Lots of dogs coming in to the rescue and lots of them finding their forever home.  I really missed being a part of that.  It made me happy to see my friends find their hoomans to love and train.

This year we have more new friends looking of their new families.  With new friends coming in, and some of them need lots of vet care to make them feel better, we are in need of donations to keep up with the vet bills for our new friends.  If you and your hooman’s can help, please visit http://www.wienerdogrescue.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=83&Itemid=71 for how to donate.

Farewell From Guest Speaker Beeker

February 1, 2010 at 9:35 pm • Posted in Guest Speaker Beeker5 Comments

Hello to our faithful CDR blog followers.

I’m here to announce my retirement from blogging and shows.  I’m an old man now.  I am 12.  I get tired and I’m slowing down.  I can’t last as long as I used to and when I get tired I become a grumpy old man.  Mom says I get really grouchy.

So I’m passing the torch to our younger bloggers (and yes Robin, prettier).  I’ve had a lot of fun blogging and meeting people and dogs at the shows.  I will miss you all, but I am going to enjoy my nice comfy bed and laying in the sunlight.

This is Guest Speaker Beeker signing off….keep reading and keep helping my friends at CDR.

Beeker’s Christmas Morning

January 7, 2010 at 12:24 pm • Posted in Guest Speaker Beeker4 Comments

Hi Everyone!

Well I had a great Christmas and New Years…how ’bout you?

I decided to be nice and not pee on the tree.  Good thing too because Santa brought me a nice haul.  I was so excited!  Christmas Eve I was bouncing all over the place and whining…you see I always know when something good is coming.  I was annoying my humans a bit, but they’ll get over it.  So Christmas Eve I was running around like a turkey and then I couldn’t settle down to sleep so I kept moving all night long.

Then Christmas morning came and will wonders never cease!  I woke up and Santa had been!   My people gave me fresh turkey for breakfast.  Meggie got some too.  I had to show her the ropes with the Christmas festivities, but I think she’ll eventually get the hang of it.  After I had gone out and done my ‘business’, I came back in and TORE open my PRESENTS!!  Mom attached the video…they were all laughing:

I look like a pumpkin

I look like a pumpkin

Have you been outside recently!  It’s frickin freezing!  Especially for a little short haired guy like me.  Winter is most definately alive and well.  When I go outside I go as fast as I can so I can come back in.  If I go for a walk, I get dressed up in my winter best.  Dad feels like a dork walking these two little wieners in winter coats and booties.  People giggle as I go by but it’s a gift to make people laugh (and I get to stay warm).  Us dogs can get frost bite too!  So remember to protect your wiener this winter!
