Sunbeam

Please send more sunbeams

Robin:

I love my sunbeam
I’d look pretty with a tan
But I like my hair

Duchess:

The fire in the sky is hot
What were we talking about?
What is a haiku?
I’m not very smart

Frankie:

Get out of my beam
You annoying hairy girls
And bring me some food

Holly:

The sun makes me squint
I will be on the sofa
Under a blanket

Remember me April (aka the pretty one)?

Mommy took me to the dog bath lady this week cause my long, shiny, beautiful, fluffy hair was collecting all kinds of things and dragging them around the house.  See?

Canine Swiffer!

Now I look like a Cocker Spaniel.

I'm Smizing- smiling with my eyes

Are you laughing at me?

My rock star look is gone!

I’m going to pee on something… in the house.

I Have Bit of a Problem; with a Capital P

February 24, 2010 at 6:47 pm • Posted in Deke/Buzz3 Comments

I've had more urine tests than an Olympic snowboarder

It seems I have a problem with my pee.  It hurts to go and I can’t  hold it or let it out when I’m supposed to and when I see someone I like, I show my appreciation with a puddle.   I don’t mean to be a squirter, I’m sorry :(

I have been taking pee pills but Mommy got freaked out when she found red stuff in my piddle.  I went to the vet and gave them some of my squirt to test and found out that I have crystals and not the Swarovski kind.  I ate some bad stuff when I was on the run with Doogle.    I might need another nap at the dog doctor and I’m scared.

Since I have not been adopted yet (Mommy has to wait and see how I like the human in her belly)  my CDR vet bill is getting bigger and bigger.  I’m a little guy with a big heart but a very small wallet, maybe I should open a kissing booth at our next show?

Working hard

Sometimes the people here tell me that I owe them thousands of dollars. Sometimes they imply that I’m some kind of lazy freeloader mooching off them and say that I should get a job. I hope that they are joking, because I hold more jobs than anyone else in this house. I’m pretty sure I’m underpaid.

I’ve made a list of some of the jobs I do around here and I’m thinking that we really do need a union to protect our rights. I never get a day off. I work well over 44 hours a week and haven’t seen any overtime pay. Room and board is ok since I don’t have pockets to put money in, but the little digs have to stop. It’s some kind of workplace abuse, right? Discrimination, maybe?

  1. Head of security
  2. Dishwasher
  3. Janitor
  4. Vermin control
  5. Taste-tester (what – no one here has been poisoned yet)
  6. Bed warmer
  7. Therapist
  8. Personal trainer
  9. Gardener
  10. Snow removal (melting one patch at a time)

I also keep the girls in line but they claim that that’s a hobby and not a job. It’s not all sunbeams and cookies around here. I’ve heard that there are 3 deliveries arriving at the house today. Who is going to tell the people when they’ve arrived? Who is going to sniff them to make sure the packages are ok? Who is going to keep the house safe from those delivery people?

I deserve a raise.

When You Think You’ve Got it Bad..

It's not so bad here

It's not so bad here

I know Frankie complains that he doesn’t eat enough and I don’t like to be cold and we weenies all have our stories about where we came from but today I read about two little guys that were rescued from Hurricane Katrina and adopted by a nice family who moved to Haiti for work.  Well we all know what happened there and Bella and Dieter were left alone in another horrible place.  Good news though, Dieter and Bella have been reunited with their owner and back home!  Good owners deserve a treat!

Another show? Can you help?

February 20, 2010 at 1:27 pm • Posted in CDR Shows4 Comments

Hi, it’s me, Robin and I want to tell you about the next show because maybe you can help. It’s coming up in a month and I’m so excited because I know people will come to see me and they will pet me and call me pretty.

If your people are good to you, you’ve taught them what it’s like to live with a dachshund, and they understand that there are lots and lots of dogs in bad places that need to be rescued so we shouldn’t be making any more dogs, then they can help! The show is allll day every day from 10AM to 8PM and I’m going to be really really tired if I have to be there all the time so I need you guys to come and help out. Even a few hours will help because I need my beauty sleep or I’ll start to look like Frankie. Don’t worry, you’ll be there with me or another dog who can tell you how it works.

Mom says that after the walk-a-thon, this is the rescue’s biggest fundraiser. What do you think? Want to be a volunteer with CDR and help out?

Attention all households with more than one dog!  This procedure for acquiring treats can be done, execute  mission and report back.

This is why we are so long

Do you need another dog?

Jovi and Sue

Thanks, Jovi!

Hello from Frankie. Sorry I haven’t posted for a while. With all the vacations and Fun Festing, things have been a bit crazy. Mom finally got around to emptying out the car after the show and let me tell you about the smells! I must have received pee-mail from at least 100 dogs. Usually I have to go out to read my pee-mail, this is the first time that it all came into my house.

Robin filled me in on the events at the show. CDR raised a few hundred dollars to help with vet bills, and Robin says she got lots of love. Above, you can see Robin along with mom and my new best friend, Jovi. Jovi came to the show and gave CDR a nice donation for help with Doogle, but more importantly, she brought ME a Valentine’s gift. MEAT!!!! Yes, she brought me some tasty meat strips! She knows the way to my heart. I’ve been saving this gripe and you’ll hear about it someday, but mom is vegan and dad is vegetarian and outside of my meals, I hardly ever get the good stuff.  I get peanut butter cookies or carrots for my snacks. Yep, it’s totally ridiculous and unfair and I’ve been thinking of calling the authorities to tell them of the suffering that goes on in my house. Mom says that on behalf of Doogle and CDR, I have to thank Jovi for her support – but to be honest I mostly thank her for bringing me MEAT.

I also found out that Willow and Gumbah get home-cooked meals every day. With MEAT. So Jovi… what do you think? Could I move in with you guys, or maybe just visit for dinner every night?  Mom says I have to share my treats with all the girls. I really do need to find a new home. I’m pretty sure all this sharing can be considered abuse.
